catalyst noun   an agent that provokes or speeds significant change or action Have you ever been in a situation in which you secretly knew you probably should make a change? Perhaps you heard it over and over again,  maybe even from strangers, that this circumstance may not be the best? You know deep in your heart that a change needs to be made. For one reason or another though you trudge along your path. It's so much easier to stay with what you know. It may be the convenience. It may be more economically feasible. It may just be you don't want to hurt any feelings. It may be all of the above and more. The Universe doesn't subscribe to "Let a sleeping dog lay." At least not in my universe. My guardian angels don't do that at all. They usually start pretty gently, a hint here, a sentence there. *nudge, nudge*  You need to make some changes. This is how it begins. It's a Monday morning. I slowly wake up to the realization that I didn't do a meal plan for the week. I didn't grocery shop. I'm too tired to make breakfast. And Dave is definitely not getting a lunch to take with him. <Sigh> I did so well for a month or so. I was so organized. Shopping was done. Meals were planned. But let me let you in on a secret. I hate meal planning. I hate standing in line on a weekend at the grocery store where even 9:00 at night looks like a Black Friday.  I also hate not knowing what's for dinner and not having a plan. I get overwhelmed by the scope of recipes out there, by what's healthy and what isn't. I want to wake up, make breakfast, make lunch, have dinner plans ready. I also want to wake up and make sure everything is spotless. I want to train the dog and make sure he has enough exercise before I leave for work myself. I also want to pay our bills, do our budget, stop at the bank, the ...

beginnings

With the sailing of a new ship it is customary to break a bottle of champagne to christen the journey. Dave, my husband, brought home a bottle of Prosecco for us so we could christen our new journey. It begins here. It's a little corner in our world that we will fill with life's little essentials. It's our own private space to fill with our adventures, our stories, our little furry family, and whatever else that we find essential in our lives. It's Life's Little Essentials. Who am I? I'm Emily, a full time bartender, wife and pet mom. We have 2 rescue cats, Newton and Einstein and the cutest, most giant, most rambunctious puppy, Edison.
